With their
personal critical care experience, when starting
Criticare/Chadds Ford Alternacare over 20 years ago, the
owners put special emphasis on contracting with nurses who had
specialty or high-tech experience and skills. Over the years
that high-tech specialty service has become a niche market and
has blossomed to include many specialty areas. Those areas
include such clinical units as: ICU, CCU, CVU, Telemetry,
NICU, PICU, MICU, SICU, Open-Heart, ED, PACU, OR, Special
Radiology, Cardiac Cath. Lab., and GI Lab. This niche market
continues to be a significant portion of the supplemental
staffing services provided by Criticare/Chadds Ford
Alternacare.
That is
not to say that if you are a generalist that your services are
not valued by Criticare/Chadds Ford Alternacare! In today's
acute care settings, the Medical and Surgical areas are highly
skilled and specialized. We recognize those skills and value
them as we would any clinical specialty.
Currently
we are providing supplemental services (all clinical areas) to
acute care hospitals located in southern New Jersey,
Philadelphia and surrounding counties, and throughout central
Pennsylvania.

work. Also, you will need to identify clinical areas of
choice. Remember, you need to have the equivalent of 2 years
of clinical experience in a specialty area to be placed into
that area for supplemental staffing. Also, at that time our
Staffing Coordinator will make preliminary arrangements for
orientations.
It's that
easy! And remember, YOUR schedule is YOUR choice!

All nurses
working though Criticare/Chadds Ford Alternacare have the
opportunity for orientation at their facility of choice. The
orientation differs widely from institution to institution and
is based on the facility's policy regarding this issue. Some
facilities require 1 hour orientation prior to the start of
the first shift and others require significantly more time.
Sometimes the orientation is provided by another
Criticare/Chadds Ford Alternacare nurse and sometimes it is
provided by the facility staff. Our Staffing Coordinator will
review with you the details of the orientation requirements
during your "get to know you" discussion
At any
time, a Criticare/Chadds Ford Alternacare nurse can request
additional orientation time (unpaid) at a particular facility.
This is usually coordinated with another Criticare/Chadds Ford
Alternacare nurse who will act as your preceptor. This is
particularly helpful for those who have never provided
supplemental staffing services. We want you to feel confident
and comfortable in the clinical areas you will be working.
However, it is not intended to be a "training or educational"
session but rather an opportunity for you to learn the flow
and internal process of a particular clinical area as well as
to get a sense of the spirit of supplemental staffing.
